About the Artist
I have been creating art my whole life. It started as hours with play-dough and crayons (I still have my crayons from childhood) and, over the years, it spread to painting, drawing, crafts, photography, stitchery, costumes, design, digital, performance, poetry, writing and, most recently, music. In addition to my visual art, I have included poetry, stories and a few books I have written.
Although I always thought I would have a career in the arts, when it came time to finally decide, I chose science. I have had a successful career as a research and forensic psychologist. My passion for art has been a great balance to the intensity of my career. For example, as I drive the half hour from home to work through foothills and ranch land I see all kinds of wildlife that is very exciting to me and inspires my art. I see hawks, birds, eagles, owls, coyotes, bobcats, turtles, roadrunners, boars, horses, donkeys, cows and whatever else passes by. I watch the sky change from bright, hot sun in summer to an endless range of cloud formations in winter. The trees and fields go through their seasonal changes and streams fill and dry out. I am constantly in awe of nature and how much joy it brings me. You will see this in my drawings, paintings and photography.
I am very happy to be sharing my art with you.
Note: My art is signed with different last names due to previous relationships. The following signatures are all mine: S. Schulte, S.S. Martin, S.S. Day, and S. Schulte-Day. Original pieces will include with the signature my fingerprint for authenticity verification.
About the Artist
My professional journey as an artist started in 2005. I have shown my art in group art shows, had solo gallery shows, and spent many a sunny weekend sharing my creativity at various art festivals. I am a member of the Society of West Coast Artists in San Mateo, California. I am extremely honored to have been acknowledged with an article written by International Art Critic Svetlana T. Makhlina, Ph.D., which I have included on its own page here.
